DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. — Two men were sentenced to the Missouri Department of Corrections during Circuit Law Day on July 31 in Douglas County Circuit Court.
Associate Circuit Judge Raymond Gross sentenced Joseph W. Newell, 39, of Marshfield, to 30 years in prison for the class C felony of delivery of a controlled substance.
Newell was sentenced as a prior and persistent drug offender. Under the terms of a plea agreement, the court ordered the sentence to be served under Missouri’s long term drug treatment statute.
The offense occurred in September 2025 and was investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Floyd Lee Lamb III, 46, of Ava, was sentenced to three years in prison for the class D felony of nonsupport of a child after admitting that he violated the terms of his probation by failing to pay child support.
According to the Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Lamb had absconded from Probation and Parole supervision for several years before he was apprehended.
The original offense occurred in May 2014 and was investigated by the Child Support Unit of the Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
A total of 13 criminal cases appeared on Gross’ docket during Circuit Law Day, with some defendants appearing by video.
The docket included one felony guilty plea and one probation revocation. Two cases were scheduled for probation violation hearings, while two others were set for either plea hearings or trial settings. One case was scheduled for a jury trial.
All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
