Two Men Arrested on Drug Charges Have Combined Total of 49 Previous Arrests

Ava, MO. – Two men that were involved in a traffic stop in Douglas County are facing multiple felony drug charges to stack onto their extensive criminal history, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Sam Evans was the arresting officer on this case that began with a traffic stop for a trailer not displaying a valid plate on September 22nd. Inside the vehicle were 54-year-old Matthew Smith, and 57-year-old Brian Shive.

The pair were confirmed to be convicted felons, and were found with both firearms and methamphetamine, which led to their arrest and formal charges.

However, the Sheriff’s Office went on to say that Smith has 33 previous arrests, and Shive has 16, giving the pair a total of 49 previous arrests. This makes this latest arrest just another link in a lengthy chain.
