Two people charged in Monday shooting

According to the Howell County Sheriff’s Department, two people were arrested and charged in connection to a Monday night shooting in West Plains.

Brian Smith, 40, was shot near the intersection of County Road 1750 and County Road 1380. Despite being injured, Smith was able to drive himself to 14 Junction Truck Stop. En route, Smith contacted emergency personnel. EMS met Smith at the truck stop and transported him to the West Plains Regional Airport, where he was then flown by air ambulance to a Springfield hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Casey Tetrick, 30, of West Plains and Watawna Brashears, were both arrested following the shooting. Tetrick was arrested Monday evening and Brashears was arrested Tuesday afternoon. Both were arrested at the Ridge Crest Motel in West Plains.

Both have been formally charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action. Both are being held in the Howell County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
