Two people injured in Birch Tree crash Thursday afternoon

West Plains, MO. – Two people were injured in a crash on Highway 60 in Birch Tree Thursday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred at 4:05 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 60 and County Road 657.

A southbound 1998 Ford Ranger driven by David Hamm, 72 of Winona, pulled into the path of an eastward-moving 2015 Chevy Equinox driven by Jessie Lacy, 28 of Poplar Bluff. Neither driver had been wearing a seatbelt and the crash totaled both vehicles.

Lacy suffered serious injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Hamm suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Mountain View for treatment.
