Mountain View, MO. – On Monday, April 22, 2024, two teachers from the Mountain View Birch Tree School District were awarded SWTRA Teacher of the Year.
The Southwest Regional Teachers Association presented awards at the DoubleTree Convention Center in Springfield to teachers from across Missouri. Mrs. Rebeccah Smotherman, the 2nd-grade teacher at Mountain View Elementary, and Mrs. Kala Chamber, the LHS English Teacher, were presented with the award. Mrs. Smothman and Mrs. Chamber both received a plaque, $500, and $100 went to their educator’s CTA.
The SWTRA was awarded to three different teachers. One for teachers in Elementary (Pre-K through 5th grade), one for teachers in Middle School (6th through 8th grades), and one for teachers in High School (9th through 12th grades).
