Texas County, MO. – Two local fire departments in Texas County have received grants from the Missouri Department of Conservation, according to recent announcements through social media pages.
The two in question are the Licking Rural Fire Department and the City of Houston Fire Department. The former will be receiving $3,634, and the latter will be receiving $9,981.75. The money gained will go towards personal equipment for the firefighters, such as fire-resistant clothes, helmets, radios, and more.
This is all made possible through the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Fire Department Assistance Program. This program applies to fire departments that serve communities of 10,000 or less and is a matching program. This means that the amount awarded through the grant must be met by the fire department.
