A man was injured Monday afternoon in a two‑vehicle crash on U.S. 60, about a half‑mile west of Birch Tree. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 4:10 p.m. as an 81‑year‑old driver from Clay, Arkansas attempted a left‑hand turn in his 2026 Ford Maverick.
Troopers say a westbound 1996 Harley‑Davidson, operated by a 69‑year‑old man from Eminence, struck the Ford in the side during the turn.

The driver of the Ford was wearing a safety device and suffered moderate injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. The motorcycle rider was not reported injured.
