Two-Vehicle Crash Causes Serious Injuries

Ava, MO. – A two-vehicle crash has caused at least three people to become injured, with two having sustained serious injuries.

This Highway 14 crash occurred at roughly 1:20pm, 9 miles Northwest of Ava, MO. A 1997 GMC suburban was Westbound, being driven by Mary Brown, 56 of Ava. Brown then traveled off the right side of the roadway, and overcorrected her attempt to get back onto the road. This led to a collision with a 2013 Dodge 2500 driven by David Miller, 35 of Seymour, MO.

Injuries include Mary Brown, Julie Mitchum, 48 of Ava, and a 17 year-old male from Cabool, MO. The Juvenile and Brown both sustained serious injuries, for which they were transported by Air Ambulance to Cox and Mercy in Springfield for treatment. Mitchum sustained moderate injuries. Neither Brown nor Mitchum were wearing their safety devices.

This accident was investigated by Corporal D.J. Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G.
