West Plains, MO. – Two men have warrants for their arrest following an incident last Wednesday where one man shot at two other people near Birch Tree.
According to the probable cause statement, Ronald Jording III was walking on County Road 459 with another person when Luis Acevedo came onto the road with a gun, threatening to shoot him. Acevedo allegedly put the gun to the head of one of the victims and threatened to “blow his head off”, and had fired the gun seven times. Law enforcement was able to locate four places on the roadway that had been shot and collected bullet fragments.
While speaking with law enforcement, Jording admitted he had moved to a nearby residence at the beginning of the month. Officers learned that Jording was a registered sex offender from Clinton, Arkansas and had not updated his residence with the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office since Sept. 13, 2023. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for failing to update his address and phone number within 3 days of the changes, as required by the Sex Offender Registry. Jording is wanted on the charge of failure to register as a sex offender with a bond of $25,000 cash or corporate surety.
After deputies spoke with Acevedo, it was learned he was a convicted felon with multiple violent convictions from Florida and was not to be in possession of a firearm. A warrant for the arrest of Acevedo has been issued for unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm with a bond of $50,000 cash or corporate surety.
