UFRW award scholarship, prepare diaper bags at meeting

At Thursday’s (6/4) United Federated Republican Women meeting, the group awarded a $750 scholarship and filled 25 diaper bags with items for donation.

The UFRW awarded its United Federated Republican Women’s Liberty Scholarship to Hannah Collins. Hannah plans to attend Missouri State University in Springfield to pursue a degree in teaching. She says her passion is music. Hannah has been in choir for nine years and was musically inspired by local music teachers, David Hall and Kelly Dame.

As one the club’s ‘Caring for America’ projects, 25 handmade diaper bags were filled with baby blankets, diapers, lotion, shampoo, toys, binkies, wash clothes, bibs, nail clippers and handwritten encouragement cards to be given to the Open Door Pregnancy Resource Center of West Plains for when the non-profit organization is ready to open. Diaper bags were handmade by Jaime Dixon.

Twenty-five handmade diaper bags were filled items for donation.
