Update on the August 2nd Texas County Shooting

Licking, MO. – On August 3rd, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office announced a shooting event that happened on August 2nd, where one individual was arrested and another was dead from gunshot wounds. They have since updated the public on what happened.

In this new public statement on the event, Texas County Sheriff Scott Lindsey states this investigation began when law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting at Crow Creek Bar and Grill North of Licking on CC Highway at around 3:49pm, August 2nd. Both the Sheriff’s Office and the Licking PD were on location and arrived to a scene of a man deceased.

The man was identified as Christopher Gordon, 58 of Beulah, Missouri. Interviews with witnesses and review of camera footage took place and it was determined that the victim was shot by his brother, James Gordon, 62. What is described as a brief altercation took place between the two before the shooting.

James was succinctly arrested and was thereafter charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action by Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens, and he is being held in the Texas County Jail without bond.
