There has been am update on the fatal shooting that occurred on June 13th of 2022.
This event occurred as 42-year-old Brian Dunaway shot and killed 27-year-old Dewayne Wessel, reportedly in a case of self-defense. Information comes as a part of a probable cause statement from the investigating Ozark County Deputy, Matt Rhoades.
Rhoades stated that when he had approached the scene, Wessel had already expired. According to Dunaway, this event happened as he witnessed a domestic assault event between Wessel and his girlfriend, and upon telling him to stop, Wessel charged and Dunaway fired.
The event is complicated with the discovery of methamphetamine on the property, and the admission that Dunaway has used it the night before.
Dunaway is charged with felony murder in the second-degree, felony possessing a firearm and methamphetamine at the same time and felony possession of methamphetamine. He is being held in the Ozark County Jail without bond.
