Continuing programming by the West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA) to support The Alliance: Arts and Cultural Organizations (Arts Alliance) will feature in May, 2023, two programs by Sue Greenberg, Executive Director of the St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (VLAA).
VLAA’s mission is to support the creative community by providing free legal and accounting assistance, a wide variety of affordable educational programs, and advocating for the arts and artists.. They serve artists of every discipline and career level, nonprofit cultural organizations and small creative businesses. The organization enhances the region’s cultural fabric and offers rewarding volunteer opportunities.
Their website vision statement: “We envision a thriving creative community that understands its legal rights and responsibilities and the importance of sound business practices and where success is not dependent on the ability to pay for quality legal and accounting services or related educational programs.” More information on the organization is available at St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts | VLAA
Friday, May 12 (4-5 p.m.) Greenberg will present a brief discussion on fiscal responsibilities for nonprofit boards and organizations.
Saturday, May 13 (10 a.m. – noon) a program covering copyright issues and taxes will be offered to individual artists. Brunch will be provided.
Both programs are open to the public and will be held at the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St., West Plains, MO.
Please RSVP for either program to info@westplainsarts.org or phone Paula 417-293-2325.
