Want To See Adorable Babies? The Dickerson Park Zoo Welcomes Monkey Triplet Babies

Springfield, MO. – The Dickerson Park Zoo has announced the birth of cotton-top tamarin triplet babies. These triplets were born on July 29, to some of their first-time parents.

The first-time parents are Kiki and Super Cutie. Kiki, the mom, is five years old and Super Cutie, the dad, is now 16 years old. The cotton-top tamarin mating pair is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan. The SSP is a cooperatively managed program within. the AZA network working to maintain a genetically diverse biologically sound population of different types of species. This matin pair’s species are native to South America and are a critically endangered species and one of the rarest primates in the world. That makes the birth of the triplets even more rewarding.

The infants of this species will cling to their mothers for the first few months of their life, so they will stay hidden for a couple of weeks. The family did make an appearance on July 29th but they have access to an inside area as well. The sex of the triplets is not known at this time.
