West Plains, MO. – According to the West Plains Police Department, the West Plains area is experiencing a large increase in cases of counterfeit bills appearing in circulation.
According to the release of information, counterfeit bills could be sporting the appearance of movie prop money, but general counterfeit bills should not be ruled out as being possible.
When exchanging cash, be on the lookout for anything on your bills that could signal being fake, such as notes that say “for motion pictures purposes”, “not legal tender”, or any distinguishing marks that marks the disingenuous nature of the bill.
If you own a business or want to be extra careful, consider purchasing a counterfeit detector pen, or UV lights, both of which can help one differentiate true cash from false.
