West Plains Assistant Fire Chief Sterner Talks Increased Fire Risk in the Ozarks

West Plains, MO. – Around this time of year, fire departments across the region see more activity as we come out of winter and into warmer temperatures.

Fuels for fire come from leaves and other dead or dying plants over the season, which is only made worse by cold temperatures and snow melt drying it all out. Several fire suppression agencies in the area have made comments on the increased workload they’re experiencing with individuals burning leaves or trash on their property.
