A 13‑year‑old West Plains girl was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in an ATV crash south of town.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 3:20 p.m. on April 12 on private property along County Road 8800, about two miles south of West Plains. Troopers say the juvenile was driving a 1997 Kawasaki Bayou 220 when she entered a curve at too high a speed, causing the ATV to overturn.

The girl, who was wearing a safety device, sustained serious injuries and was flown by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
