West Plains, MO. – The West Plains High School has recently announced that they have earned big wins in a huge choir competition that took place recently in Atlanta, Georgia. Posted below is their unedited release.
Under the direction of Kelly Dame and Jordan Hall, the West Plains High School Choirs showcased their exceptional musical talents at the Worldstrides Heritage Festival in Atlanta, Georgia over the weekend.
Competing against 7 schools from across the country, the West Plains High School Choirs made a huge impact, earning four gold medals across multiple categories. From the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Plainsmen Choir, and the West Plains Women’s Choir, each ensemble earned gold in every division. Their collective triumph culminated in the prestigious Sweepstakes Award, earned by the school with the closest combined score to perfection—a testament to the unwavering dedication and talent of the WPHS music program.
In addition, Dagan Joiner emerged victorious, earning the coveted Maestro Award for Best Soloist with only four awards granted amidst a pool of nearly 2,000 students.
The Concert, Plainsmen, and Women’s Choirs each received the Adjudicator’s Awards—a distinction reserved for groups that achieve a combined rating of 92 or higher from all three judges. Particularly noteworthy is Mr. Hall’s Plainsmen Choir, which earned the highest points of any single group award.
The West Plains High School Choirs not only brought honor back to school but have also showcased the amazing depth of musical talent within the community. The triumph at the Worldstrides Heritage Festival is a testament to the power of dedication, collaboration, and wonderful musical abilities.
