West Plains man arrested following DWI crash

West Plains, Mo. – A woman was injured and a man arrested following a crash near Thayer on Friday night. According to the Highway Patrol reports, the incident occurred five miles north of Thayer on Highway 19 at 6:45 p.m.

A 2010 Hyundai Elantra driven by Christian Bates, 23 of West Plains, ran off the roadway, striking the ground and overturning. A female passenger, 18 year old Sabe Quirrels of Hardy, Ar., was seriously injured in the crash and transported to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. Bates was arrested and charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated – Persistent Offender and, Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway. He was held in Oregon County Jail. Bates was not injured in the crash.
