West Plains man arrested for damage to the WP Municipal Golf Course and WP High School

West Plains, MO. – A suspect has been arrested following reports of damage to the West Plains Municipal Golf Course and West Plains High School on Sunday.

The West Plains Police Department received reports of a white Dodge truck causing damage to the golf course at 7:05 a.m. on July 2, 2023, driving through the course on the green and doing donuts. A description of the vehicle and the name of the driver was given to law enforcement.

At 9:42 a.m., the same vehicle was reported to be making skid marks in the parking lot of the West Plains High School. Investigators found several large marks at the scene with tread imprints that matched the tread marks from the golf course. 

The vehicle in question was spotted driving on Abe Taylor without displaying any state plates and authorities performed a traffic stop on the vehicle, noting it had not been registered or had proof of insurance. 

The driver, Xane Norton, age 19 of West Plains, was arrested for 1st degree property damage. Further charges are being sought for property damage, driving while intoxicated, minor in possession of alcohol, failure to show proof of insurance, and failure to register a motor vehicle.
