West Plains man arrested for damaging local church

A West Plains man has been arrested for damaging windows and doors at a Junction Hill Church. Jared D. Caston of West Plains was arrested on the night of March 31st and charged with felony Institutional Vandalism following an investigation by the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.
 
On March 31, 2023, at approximately 10:17 p.m., Howell County Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1120 near West Plains, for a report of property damage at Junction Hill Pentecostal Church.
 
Corporal Roberts, Deputy First Class Weaver, and Deputy Hamby responded to the scene and made contact with the Reporting Party. The Reporting Party advised a male, who was known to him, was observed damaging the windows and doors of the church with a hammer.
 
During the course of the investigation, it was also discovered that a large rock had been thrown through the front glass doors of the church causing extensive damage. Broken glass littered the floor and the pews throughout the areas of the church in which the damage occurred. A total of 13 (thirteen) windows and 3 (three) doors were damaged with an estimated repair cost of $15,000.
 
Deputies traveled to the suspect’s residence, where he was located, and placed him under arrest without further incident.

Jared D. Caston of West Plains was transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center where he was placed on a 24-hold pending formal charges for Institutional Vandalism – Felony D. A Probable Cause Statement was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
 
On April 1, 2023 an arrest warrant was issued for Mr. Caston on the charge of Institutional Vandalism with a bond of $10,000 cash or corporate surety.
