West Plains man arrested for stealing firearms

West Plains, MO. – A West Plains man has been arrested for stealing firearms from a home he had been staying at. Tylar L. Wallace is charged with two counts of Stealing – Firearm/Explosive Weapon/Ammonium Nitrate.

According to the probable cause statement, On March 28, 2023, a Howell County woman reported to the Sheriff’s Office that two firearms had been stolen from her residence. She told the deputies that Wallace had been staying at her residence for roughly one week leading up to March 22 and after Wallace had left, she noticed the guns were missing. The firearms were a .38 caliber Ruger and a Smith & Wesson 9mm.

On March 29, the Sherriff’s Office made contact with a Pomona woman who stated Wallace was at her residence and he had a handgun on his hip on the night of the 28th. Deputies made contact with Wallace in Pomona a short time later and he was taken into custody.

The PCS goes on to state that Wallace confessed to stealing the firearms during his post-Miranda interview. The suspect reportedly traded both firearms to another person for one-quarter pound of Marijuana. 

Tylar Wallace is currently in the Howell County Detention Center with a $10,000 bond. He has a bond appearance hearing scheduled for Monday, April 10 before Judge Robert Ray.
