Pottersville, MO. – One individual from West Plains has been arrested this past weekend by the Howell County Sheriff’s Office on a slew of criminal charges after being found asleep in a running vehicle at an intersection near Pottersville.
On July 22nd, 2023 at roughly 5:10am, Deputy Gordon from the Howell County Sheriff’s Office travelled to County Road 6420 at the intersection of State Highway AD due to a report of a parked and running stationary vehicle.
While on the scene, Gordon witnessed the driver, Dakota Simmons, a West Plains resident, asleep at the wheel. Investigation was performed and Simmons was found to be under the influence of drugs. Simmons resisted arrest and attempted to flee before being tasered and arrested.
Inside the vehicle, a loaded .22 revolver, meth, and drug paraphernalia were found. No official charges have been filed yet, but arrest charges include DWI, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Felony Resisting Arrest.
