West Plains man charged with 2nd Degree Murder for allegedly beating his father to death

West Plains, Mo. – A West Plains man has been arrested after allegedly killing his father during a domestic dispute on Wednesday. 

Christopher Greenough, age 34, was arrested on January 11, 2023. According to people close to the situation, Greenough was intoxicated when the domestic dispute with his father, David Greenough, occurred. During the altercation, David suffered fatal injuries. The accused is being charged with 2nd degree murder held in the Howell County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Greenough was in court before Judge Robert D. Ray on Friday, January 13, where he pled not guilty to the charges. He has a hearing set for January 17th and a preliminary hearing on February 2nd.

The Howell County Sheriff’s Office released an official statement on the incident:

On January 11, 2023 at approximately 1849 hours Howell County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence to assist Emergency Services with a medical call. Upon arrival Sheriff Deputies encountered a male identified as David Greenough {White Male DOB January 9, 1963} with severe injuries to his head and face. David Greenough was transported to Ozarks Health Care but Greenough died as the result of his injuries.

Christopher Greenough {White Male DOB January 13, 1989} was present at the scene. An investigation was conducted and Christopher Greenough was arrested at the scene. A probable cause statement was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Christopher Greenough was later charged with 2nd degree murder in connection with this incident. David Greenough was Christopher Greenough’s father. There was a delay in a formal press release due to next of kin notifications.
