A West Plains man was taken into custody Wednesday after deputies say he assaulted his wife and later became combative during a disturbance on State Route Z.
Deputy Franklin Nesbitt wrote that the victim reported her husband, Jason Dale Boyer had been fighting with another man in the yard and punched her in the chest the night before. In her written statement, she said Boyer “closed fist punched me above the right breast.”

When deputies arrived around 9:45 a.m., Boyer was reportedly highly intoxicated, unable to maintain balance, and resisted when Nesbitt attempted to arrest him. Boyer is charged with 3rd degree domestic assault, his bond is set at $5,000.
