Bryant Creek State Park, MO – A man from West Plains is facing four misdemeanor charges after being caught trespassing in a state park with a UTV and admitting to baiting bears.
The incident occurred on December 17th, when Missouri State Park Ranger D. Miller interacted with Troy Andrew Rayfield, 47.
Rayfield had previously received multiple warnings about trespassing in the park with a UTV but was found doing so, having passed several bright blue “park property” signs. Additionally, Rayfield admitted to the ranger that he was using food, including corn, to bait bears off park property and was using straps and mounting hardware on trees within the park.
The charges include: 1st Degree Trespassing, Unlawfully Taking Wildlife in a State Park, Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Non-Designated Area, and Damaging State Park Property.
