A West Plains man is sentenced in the death of his infant daughter. Levi Coffel pleaded guilty last September to charges related to the death of his six-month-old daughter in 2023. Coffel admitted to consuming intoxicants while caring for four children. He placed the infant in a bathing seat with the water running, believing the drain was unplugged, but later admitted he had forgotten to unplug it. Coffel left the bathroom to get a diaper bag, saying the infant was left unattended in the bathtub for “a few minutes.” When he returned, he found the infant submerged in water, took her downstairs, and tried to perform CPR while he called for help.
