West Plains Police Department enters emergency status due to weather

The West Plains Police Department has posted the following statement.

– Emergency Status –
The West Plains Police Department has entered emergency status due to the weather. What this affects is vehicle accidents that don’t require a tow truck and have no injuries. We will still respond to accidents, but this allows drivers to exchange information and move vehicles out of the roadway to prevent another crash.

So, if you are in a crash and neither vehicle needs a tow truck, and none of the parties involved have any injuries, you can move the vehicles out of the roadway, call the Police Department, and exchange information.
We ask the community to stay home if possible. At the time of this post there is a lull in the weather, but it is supposed to start again later in the day.

The roadways are slick, the temperature is still below freezing, and we are supposed to get more freezing rain and snow is in the forecast. Please give the Snow Plows the opportunity to safely treat the roadways.
