West Plains Police Department Host Their 2024 Awards Banquet

West Plains, MO. – On Friday, February 23, 2024 the West Plains Police Department took the time to acknowledge and appreciate members of the department with an Awards Banquet. They chose to single out four members of their department for the exceptional job that they do on the force. They made post on their Facebook page about the Award Banquet from 2024, which can be read below.

” On Friday, February 23, 2024, the Police Department held an Awards Banquet at the West Plains Civic Center outlining the excellent work performed in 2023 and honoring four individuals that were nominated by members of the Department for these special recognitions. The nominations were then evaluated by a group of six members of the city, a challenging task due to the quality of those nominated. The four 2023 Awards were:
The Recruit of the Year Award is awarded to a newly commissioned officer with the West Plains Police Department for less than two years, who has provided valuable service to the community and is an active member of their assigned team. The nominee should be an outstanding representative of new police officers of the West Plains Police Department. The winner of the Recruit of the Year was Officer Daiman Meyer.
 
The Civilian of the Year Award is awarded to a civilian employee with the West Plains Police Department who has provided valuable service to the community and is an active member of their assigned team. The nominee should be an outstanding representative of the West Plains Police Department. The winner of the Civilian of the Year was Tyler Morgan.
 
The Supervisor of the Year Award is awarded to a Supervisor (Corporal and above) with the West Plains Police Department, who has provided valuable service to the community and is an active member of their assigned team. The nominees should be outstanding leaders of the West Plains Police Department. The winner of the Supervisor of the Year was Sergeant Brandon Romans.
 
The Officer of the Year Award is awarded to a commissioned officer with the West Plains Police Department for two or more years, who has provided valuable service to the community and is an active member of their assigned team. The nominee should be an outstanding representative of the West Plains Police Department. The winner of the Officer of the Year was Officer Ivie Powell.
 
The Command Staff of the Police Department presented the spouses and significant others of the members of the Department, a “Long Stem Rose,” to thank them for their support they provide their significant other and the City of West Plains and Police Department. Without this support the members of the Department would not be the excellent Public Safety Officers they are.”

Ivie Powell, who received Officer of the Year.
Tyler Morgan, who received Civilian of the Year.
