The West Plains R-VII School District is proud to celebrate a group of remarkable educators who have been named the Top 6 Educator of the Year Finalists for 2025. Representing each building across the district, these individuals exemplify excellence in teaching, dedication to students, and a deep commitment to the West Plains community.
After receiving dozens of nominations from students, parents, fellow educators, and community members, the district selected one finalist from each school. Earlier today, these educators were surprised with the news that they had been named Building Level Educator of the Year.
This year’s finalists are:
- Camisha Hunter – South Fork Elementary
- Angie Hunt – West Plains Elementary
- Autumn Galiher – West Plains Middle School
- Kirsten Peterson – West Plains High School
- Jessica McKee – Southern Missouri Technical Institute
- Shandon Rhoads – Zizzer Pride Academy
Each of these outstanding educators has gone above and beyond in their classrooms and buildings — not only teaching but inspiring, mentoring, and leading with compassion and purpose. Whether through innovative teaching strategies, unwavering support for students, or building strong relationships with families, these finalists represent the heart of what makes West Plains schools truly special.
The excitement continues on May 14, when one of these six will be named the District Level Educator of the Year at the annual faculty and staff awards banquet.
The West Plains R-VII School District invites the entire community to join in celebrating these incredible educators. Their passion, hard work, and daily dedication make a lasting impact on students and the future of the district.
Congratulations to each finalist — and thank you for all that you do!
