West Plains Seeking Residents to Serve on Charter Review Commission

The City of West Plains is seeking residents to serve on the Charter Review Commission.
 
Every 10 years, the City’s Charter is reviewed to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our community. The charter serves as West Plains’ local constitution, outlining how city government is organized, what powers it has and how decisions are made.
 
The Charter Review Commission is made up of at least nine qualified voters who are residents of the City of West Plains. This is an opportunity for community members to help shape the future of local government by reviewing the charter and recommending any needed changes. Any recommended amendments will ultimately be presented to West Plains voters for consideration during the April 2027 election.

Why are we reviewing it?
The charter requires a comprehensive review at least once every 10 years. The last review was completed in 2020.

What’s the time commitment?
