West Plains, MO. – A pair of student teams from our corner of the Ozarks will be competing in a national competition on rocketry called the American Rocketry Challenge. The teams are both from the Richards R-V School District in West Plains, and are among a total number of 100 national finalists, with starting numbers being almost 800.
The national finals for this competition will take place on May 20th, in a town near Washington D.C. ironically named The Plains. Winners of this competition will receive an all-expense paid trip to the International Rocketry Challenge at the Paris Air Show later this year, as well as $100,000 in prizes. Additionally, the top 25 teams are to receive invitations to a Student Launch Workshop from NASA.
This competition is yearly, and both teams from the Richards school district have been participating in the program since 2018.
