The West Plains Sunrise Rotary Club’s 19th Annual Tom Smith Spring Golf Classic, will be held on Saturday, May 29th, 2021 at the North Terra Golf Course in West Plains with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. The tournament will benefit the Rotary Youth Backpack program. The West Plains Rotary Backpack Program serves area elementary age kids by sending a pack of food home each weekend to help kids who might not have enough food at home.
The Rotary Backpack Program has grown every year, now reaching more than 100 backpacks issued every week that school is in session, as well as extra food for school breaks. The program focuses on need at the elementary level, and currently serves 6 area schools. The program currently requires funding of nearly $25,000 dollars per year, raised between the two Rotary clubs and additional community donations.
The tournament will be a three-person scramble. Cost will be $45 per person or $135 per team. The number of flights will be determined by the number of teams. The payout for each flight will be as follows:
First Place – $500, Second Place – $300 and Third Place – $200. The tournament will also feature a couple of hole in one prizes. Those include: a 2021 Club Car Tempo Gas Car sponsored by Clear Creek Golf Car and Utility Vehicles, a 2021 Spartan RZ-C-42” Zero Turn Mower sponsored by Mega Motor Sports, and a $500 cash prize.
Lastly, don’t miss the FREE Golfers Lunch! Domino’s Pizza and Johnny Murrell’s Burgers and Brats will be served along with beverages beginning at Noon and throughout the tournament while supplies last.
