West Plains Woman Arrested After Stealing Car, Slashing Victim with a Knife

West Plains, MO. – Late last month, a West Plains woman was arrested after she used a knife to slash a victim and stole the victims vehicle, only to then lead law enforcement on a short chase.

Information on this story was obtained through both a public announcement from the Howell County Sheriff’s Office and the probable cause statement. On August 31st, Howell County Deputies responded to County Road 1770 for an auto theft case. The deputies saw the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it, which then led to the driver, identified as Misty Ryan, a 48-year-old West Plains resident, trying to flee. The chase devolved to a foot race near Sunset Terrace in West Plains before Ryan was apprehended.

Investigation afterward revealed that Ryan had used a black and pink knife to leave a roughly 6 inch cut wound on the arm of the victim before stealing the vehicle and the victims phone.

Pending charges include felony 1st Degree Robbery, felony Armed Criminal Action x2, felony 1st Degree Domestic Assault, felony Stealing – Motor Vehicle, and felony Resisting Arrest – Creating A Substantial Risk.
