West Plains, MO. – A West Plains woman is facing a litany of charges following an incident last week where she was accused of punching her teenage child in the face.
Talisa E. Deshazo, who also goes by Talisa Collins, is charged with four felonies following the incident on June 13, 2023, at a residence on County Road 5150. Deshazo is charged with burglary, abuse or neglect of a child, 2nd-degree domestic assault, and 3rd-degree assault.
According to the probable cause statement, deputies with the Howell County Sheriff’s Office were responding to a call from a 13-year-old boy where he stated his mother assaulted him.
Deputies investigating the situation learned that Deshazo had been involved in an altercation with her boyfriend while at her mother’s house. Deshazo’s mother told her to leave the property because she didn’t want problems at her house. The suspect entered the house, where a verbal altercation ensued that escalated when she shoved her mother.
A neighbor at the residence attempted to get the suspect to leave, pushing her out of the doorway Deshazo had been blocking. A struggle between the two began, with the neighbor getting struck in the head and face, damaging the neighbor’s glasses.
Deshazo’s son then attempted to stop the fight between the adults, at which the boy was punched in the face with a closed fist by Deshazo, bloodying his nose. The child then left the area to a neighboring residence to call for law enforcement.
According to online court documents, Deshazo was arrested and held on a $10,000 cash or corporate surety. The suspect had a warrant for parole violation from a 2015 assault charge and was released on June 12, 2023, with a bond of $7,500.
Deshazo pled not guilty to the charges on June 15. The accused was supposed to appear for a court appointment on Thursday, June 21, but failed to appear.
