West Plains woman wanted for traffic violations receives felony charges for resisting arrest

West Plains, MO. – A West Plains woman arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant is now facing felony charges. Amber Lee Taylor, age 39, was arrested on February 27, 2023, at 9:23 p.m. at her residence on west 6th Street.

Taylor has many charges from other cases, including fraud and stealing, that she has been appearing for, according to online court documents. Her failure-to-appear warrant was from the city of West Plains for operating a vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility.

According to the probable cause statement, the West Plains Police with the assistance of the Howell County Sheriff arrived at the residence to enact the warrant. A man at the home told them Taylor was inside and would have her come to the door. According to the PC, Taylor refused to exit the residence and the officers entered to arrest her. She is reported to have refused to stand and put her hand behind her back. An officer with the WPPD forced her arm behind her back with a pain compliance hold until she brought her other arm behind her back. Following the arrest, the officer noticed he had a small cut on his left index finger knuckle.

Taylor is now facing two felony charges:

  • Resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing – creating a substantial risk of serious injury/death to any person
  • 3rd-degree assault – Special Victim

Taylor is currently out on bond and is scheduled for an arraignment on April 3, 2023.
