The White River Valley Electric Cooperative recently awarded $75,000 in grant funds to area education systems, which include Christian, Douglas, Ozark, Stone, and Taney counties. This grant money was made available to teachers located within the Cooperative’s service area who applied.
The grant was made possible through funds from Operation Round Up, which rounds up the bills of those who are served by White River Valley to the nearest dollar. The grant, borrowing aspects of the name of the fund-raising program, is known as Power Up. According to a press release, the Power Up grant program accepted 129 out of the 194 applications that were submitted.
To apply for this grant, teachers submitted a plan with an itemized list of supplies and a letter of project approval from their school’s administrative office.
Schools in our area that were included are Ava and Gainesville, but a more full list of schools and specific teachers can be found by clicking here and here, and reading the official press releases.
