Why are there so many motorcycles traveling in the Ozarks today? It’s the Pre-1933 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run!

West Plains, MO. – Many people in the Ozarks are noticing a rather large number of antique motorcycle riders traveling through today and are asking “What is going on??” Today is the southern Missouri and northern Arkansas stretch of the Pre-1933 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run.

According to their website, www.motorcyclecannonball.com, the run began in Virginia Beach, Virginia on September 7th and will end on Sunday, September 24th in Oceanside, California. On September 13th, riders began their journey in either Paducah, Kentucky, or Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and will meet at Stage #6 in Branson, Missouri.

The Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run was founded by Lonnie Isam Jr. and is owned by Jason Sims. The first run was in 2010 and was held every two years until the COVID-19 pandemic when the run was postponed until 2021. 

In this run, only motorcycles built before 1933 are allowed. The winner for each class will be the motorcycle and its rider that covers the most on-route mileage over the 16-day run.
