A man was arrested on Friday, May the 3rd, after shooting at a neighbor’s vehicle with a handgun.
According to the probable cause affidavit on the case, Paden Turnbull with the Willow Springs PD responded to a call of shots being fired at a residence near Business 60/63, just before 7pm that day. On arrival, the victims, a pair of adults with seven children, were found, as well as the suspect, identified as Hershell Meshell, 60 of Willow Springs.
Meshell had fired at the victim’s vehicle, a Ford Explorer, three times with a .40 caliber handgun while in an intoxicated state. When the weapon was confiscated, it was observed that the serial numbers on the firearm had been ground off.
In addition, during the arrest, Meshell had admitted he was a danger to himself and others, and stated he wished to be kept in jail.
Meshell was taken into custody and is being held on a $100,000 bond with arrest charges including Armed Criminal Action, and Discharge of a Firearm at a Motor Vehicle or Person.
