Willow Springs man injured in motorcycle vs. deer crash

West Plains, Mo. – A Willow Springs man was injured after he struck a deer Monday morning. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred on Highway P, four miles West of Pomona at 6 a.m.

An Eastbound Kawasaki Vulcan driven by Jerod Smith, age 29 of Willow Springs, struck a deer that was in the roadway. This caused the motorcycle to overturn, ejecting Smith, and causing extensive damage to the bike.

Smith suffered moderate injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment.

This incident was investigated by Trooper T.D. Pond of Missouri State Highway Patrol-Troop G.
