While out shopping, a Missouri Lottery player stopped by a Lottery vending machine at Town & Country Supermarket in Willow Springs to check if the Mega Millions ticket she had purchased for the Dec. 27 drawing was a winner.
“The screen looked different, and it said something about going to the Lottery office,” the winner explained.
At this point, she knew she’d won, but it wasn’t until she got home and double-checked the ticket on the Missouri Lottery website that she realized her ticket had won $1 million by matching all five white-ball numbers – 3, 7, 37, 49 and 55..
“We were just one number away from winning a billion!” she chuckled. “A million will do!”
Once she convinced her husband they had really won, they made an appointment to claim their prize at the Lottery’s Springfield Regional office.
