Fulton County, AR. – A woman from Fulton County was recently sentenced to three years after she shot and killed her son during an argument. 44-year-old Tabatha Pebler negotiated a plea deal and pled guilty to manslaughter. She was given 36 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
According to the original probable cause statement, Pebler was charged with 2nd-degree murder. On May 31, 2023, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence after receiving a call from Pebler who said that she had just shot her son. During an interview with her, she stated that she was out mowing and got her lawn mower stuck. She then went to ask 27-year-old Brandon Chris, her son, for help to get her mower unstuck. She told deputies that Brandon got upset that he had to help. Pebler got the mower stuck again and she stated that when she went to ask for help Brandon got upset and called her names. He then continued to shove her off the mower.
Pebler then went to her vehicle and grabbed the pistol from her center console because Brandon was still following her. She allegedly fired off a couple of warning shots before moving forward and shooting him. She stated that she had not meant to kill, she only wanted to scare him. Brandon was hit in the left side of the chest from 20 feet away.
