On October 2, at approximately 12:42 a.m., the West Plains Police Department received a call of stolen property having been located in a vehicle near the South Towers on Aid Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers were informed at approximately 11:30 p.m. on October 1, an unknown female was located in the victim’s vehicle. The female exited the victim’s vehicle and got into another vehicle. The victim left in their vehicle only to discover property had been stolen from the car. When the victim returned, the female was gone and law enforcement was contacted.
The second vehicle the female had been in was located in the parking lot of the South Towers and had property belonging to the original caller inside which was returned. The vehicle also contained several other items of property which were also believed to be stolen.
The vehicle was seized by officers and brought to the Police Department to be processed. It is believed a large majority of the items in the vehicle are stolen. The female was described by the original caller to be a white female with red hair approximately in her 30s. If anyone has reported any property stolen recently or has had property stolen and has not yet filed a report, they may contact the Police Department to verify if any of the recovered property belongs to them.
Due to recent burglaries and thefts from vehicles, the West Plains Police Department would once again like to remind the community of the importance of securing belongings, vehicles, and homes/buildings.
