On January 6, 2024, Larry Charles Babin Jr., a 51-year-old from Cotter, AR., had not moved in his cell at the Baxter County Jail for a period of time. The inmate was checked and found to be alive, but unresponsive. An ambulance was called, and Babin was taken to the Baxter Health ER, where he later passed away. A wrongful death lawsuit filed in federal court names Sheriff’s Office staff, health care providers and others. The suit states that Babin had a known medical condition.
