Yet Another Scam Report in the Ozarks; This Time in Howell County

West Plains, MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office made an announcement yesterday of yet another scam that has been popping up in the Ozarks.

This scam, like many others, employs a sense of urgency to get an individual to pay a monetary amount in order to avoid some sort of penalty. They state the scammers advise potential victims that they’ve missed letters of notification for sex offender registration while using the false name of “Deputy Brooks”. They then go on to state that $2,000 would be needed in order to clear a warrant being issued.
