The shooting happened in the St. Louis County town of Riverview, killing Ien Coleman. Police on Thursday released a probable cause statement that said officers called to an apartment found Coleman dead in a bedroom. He had been shot in the face.

The probable cause statement said Coleman, Haegle and others had been in the apartment the previous night playing with a 9mm semi-automatic firearm that Haegle accidentally discharged.

The statement said Haegle and the others left, and he instructed the others not to contact police.

A phone message left with Haegle’s attorney wasn’t immediately returned.
