CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — A St. Louis man whose uncle is serving a 25 year sentence in a deadly 2016 shooting has been acquitted of a second-degree murder charge in the killing.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that jurors deliberated about 90 minutes Wednesday before finding 28-year-old Raymond Hunter not guilty in the death of 57-year-old Walter Miller, of Bel-Ridge.
The defense argued that Hunter had gone to a restaurant in Berkeley to meet 28-year-old Rojai Jackson, whom he thought was there only to get some marijuana. The defense said Jackson shot Miller and that there was no drug deal after all.
Police have said Miller worked part-time for the restaurant by cleaning up its parking lot. Jackson was sentenced in March after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
