Ted F Browning, 74, of Raymondville, MO passed away February 9, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ramona; children, Heidi Browning, Kenneth Wayne Regot, III (Jennifer), Sonya Halsey (Troy), Mike Browning, and John Browning (Antonia); many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Browning Strong and brother, Lyle Harmon Browning. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Browning and Velma Halman; his beloved son, William (Bill) Lyle Browning; a brother, Royce Nick Browning; and sisters, Shirley Browning Bridges and Ella Mae Browning Mitchell.
Ted was a former member of the Navy Seabee’s and after the military he ran his own bakery for many years. It was during this time that he was running the bakery that he was walking his Saint Bernard at a park one day and noticed a dog show taking place. It was at this moment that Ted decided to become a professional dog show handler, a job he did for over 40 years.
He was a gifted handler who led the dogs he handled to many prestigious awards, including multiple Best in Shows, National and Regional Specialty wins. Ted paved the way for the American Staffordshire Terrier breed to be seen differently by judges and this led to them being more recognized in the group rings. Ted loved to teach and could always be seen mentoring an exhibitor (old or new) ringside as he had a wealth of dog knowledge. However, Ted most enjoyed mentoring children about the sport of dog shows, proper handling, and care of their dogs and how to be role models to others.
Ted’s hobbies include bowling and golfing. It was twelve years ago that during a visit by his son, Bill, and his grandson Cody, that Ted was convinced to go to the golf course and from that day forward it was a passion of Teds. Being on the golf course always gave Ted fond memories knowing that it was Bill and Cody that taught him the sport.
Ted requested that no services be held, and the family is honoring his request. In lieu of flowers, donations should by made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
