ARLAND FREDRICK POPKEN

Arland Fredrick Popken, 92, was born May 4, 1932, in West Point, Nebraska, to Fred William and Elsie May (Reher) Popken. He departed this life at his home, on January 29, 2025.

Arland married Donna Lou McVey on October 1, 1955, at the Christian Church in Trenton, Missouri. They were married for 69 years and had four children: Roger, Cathy, Alan, and Dale.

Arland proudly served as a paratrooper in the United States Army. He worked as a carpenter, known for his meticulous attention to detail and pride in his work. His contributions to the homes and lives of many will not be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elsie Popken; and son, Roger Popken.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Popken; children, Cathy Harris, Alan Popken, and Dale Popken; sister, Rose Anne McCleary; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Arland loved his family especially, all the little ones.

In this time of grief, we remember and celebrate the life of Arland Fredrick Popken, who embodied strength, dedication, and love. May he rest in peace.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Veteran’s Cemetery, Mountain View, Missouri, with Alan Popken officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View.
