Arleen Virginia Henningsen, 98 years, 2 months, and 5 days old, passed away on, April 17, 2022 at her home with family by her side.
Arleen was born February 12, 1924 in McClurg, Missouri and was raised by her grandparents, Doug and Jane Mitchell.
Arleen was a Christian and a member of the Walnut Grove Church. She loved taking care of the church in anyway she could.
Arleen Mitchell and Oliver Brummet were united in marriage on September 18, 1940 in Douglas County, Missouri and to this union four children were born. Later she married, Lee Henningsen.
“Granny” Arleen loved us all, and when you were with her you couldn’t help but feel the genuine love she had for you. Arleen was one of the hardest working women you’ve ever met. She could work as hard as most men, and never complain. She always persevered and provided for her family. You didn’t mess with her children or her dogs! She was one of the best homemade lard-frying cooks you’ve ever met. If you ever left Granny’s house hungry it was your own fault! Arleen loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and her pets. She loved her flowers and spent hours upon hours working in her garden. Fishing brought her the most joy, almost as much as her dog, Tazzy. There was no greater example of love, courageousness, grit, and a spitfire than our Granny Arleen. She was the real deal, and there is truly no other one like her. We thank God for her, and for all the years, he gave each of us to share with her. She will always be remembered through the ways she touched each of our lives.
Arleen was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; both husbands; baby boy, Henderson Brummet; granddaughter, Carolyn Freeman; son-in-laws, Albert Erickson and John Rousseau.
Arleen is survived by her children, Janice and Jerry Hawkins, Joyce Erickson, Randy and Venita Brummet, and Rex Brummet; nine grandchildren, Justin Brummet, Shelly and Jim Hannaford, Gregory and Karen Erickson, Sherry and Larry Spaeth, Kimberly Rousseau, Kellie and Tim Stafford, Christy Korkmaz, Kathie and Brian Petro; sixteen great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild; many cousins and other relatives and friends.
